WHAT WE USED TO DO ALL THE WORK
At first, we used Microsoft OneNote to share our information, but Microsoft Teams was better. Unlike OneNote, we were able to communicate with each other, upload files, create new files, and so on. We also used Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher to store our information and then upload it onto Microsoft Teams for easy access and sharing.
WHAT IS THE DIABETES PROJECT?
Some information taken from https://gvcbiology.weebly.com/blog/a-p-final-project-details
- The final project is referred to as the Diabetes Project for the A & P 30S Course. It is worth 30% of your final mark.
- There are seven presentation topics that will be presented to the class. Out of all the seven, we chose Causes of Diabetes.
- Because we were the first to complete the group survey, we took the opportunity to be the last to present in the evening presentations, which will take place in room W20 on Thursday, January 25th, 2018.
- A Primary Evaluation Team will consist of an instructor/teacher, an administrator, and at least one community professional. Each group is further expected to choose one additional student who will assist the Primary Evaluation Team in evaluating the group presentations and content.
- Each group has only 15 minutes for their presentation. This includes the setup, preparation, handouts, Q & A, props, etc. Since there are seven groups, it will take at most 105 minutes to get through all the group presentations, which is equivalent to 1.75 hours.
WHO IS THE MASTERMIND BEHIND THIS FINAL PROJECT?
Mr. Tim Wiebe is the mastermind behind the Diabetes Project. He always makes good use of time management like getting down to business usually right after when the class starts.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS (Q & A)
We have answers for questions that could be frequently asked by students and others:
1. Q: Why did you chose to work on the Causes of Diabetes?
A: Each of the four of us, who were put together by choosing people who wished to work with, had preferred a different topic that we wanted to work on. I (Bienn) wanted to work on Meal Planning, the others I believe they wanted to work on Interventions, and Microscopy. My teacher sorted this all out within a few days, and the final result was that we all agreed to research and work on Causes of Diabetes, which was one of the other topics that was not included in the original six topics.
2. Q: Who are the members of the Causes of Diabetes group?
A: We are a group of four students: Bienn Louis Canlas (myself), Benson Ginter, Darren Lepp, and Tsubasa Sugawara.
3. Q: What did you use to do all the work necessary?
A: At first, we used Microsoft OneNote, but Microsoft Teams was better because it was more useful than the former. We could have the ability to communicate with each other, upload files, create new files, and so on. We also used Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher to store our information then upload it onto Microsoft Teams for easy access.
4. Q: How did you guys all contribute to researching on the causes of diabetes?
A: We research and take notes separately then compile all of our information onto Microsoft Teams for easy access.
5. Q: During your presentation, what different forms on the Causes of Diabetes page are used for?
A: We have four different uses for each different form:
PowerPoint Online + Downloadable (Direct Link): At the start of our presentation, we go to our website and then to the Causes of Diabetes page. We click on that button which will then take us to the PowerPoint online presentation. Then we begin the slide show.
PowerPoint (Gallery): This is the alternate and quicker way for getting into the presentation, but we do not present to the audience this way because it is not formal.
Brochure: We hand them out to the audience before the start of our presentation. There are some information which may not be included in the original presentation as we go through the slides.
Poster: We display the poster on the screen rather than hand them out to the audience as to save precious time.
6. Q: Where are the source(s)? You did not make any reference to your presentation at all.
A: We do have the source(s) that is in .docx form. Click on that button and it will take you to another page. Download the source(s) file, open it up, and enjoy.
7. Q: Diabetes Type 3?
A: According to what we have researched, Diabetes Type 3 is a proposed name for Alzheimer's disease which results from resistance to insulin in the brain. As of now, researchers are still looking into whether Diabetes Type 3 ever existed or was in fact Alzheimer's.
